From the Urban Dictionary –
Republicans pounce!
A headline in a newspaper or other article that describes Republicans (or other right-leaning individuals) attacking a Democrat (or other left-leaning individual) when that Democrat commits a misdeed. Always written by a reporter with left-wing political views, it will attempt to frame the Republicans as overzealous, and will either downplay, ignore, or excuse the Democrat’s misdeed. Commonly done by the New York Times or Washington Post, it is often viewed as a sign of the bias within the media.
In other words, the focus of a negative article about Democrats is not the story but rather the Republican reaction to the story.
When Representative Rashida Tlaib announced during her acceptance speech, that ‘we’re going to impeach that [MF’er]’, the story was not about the appropriateness of her remarks, but that “Republicans, eager to portray Democrats as out to destroy Mr. Trump’s presidency, piled on criticism of Ms. Tlaib”.1
Here’s an example from the National Review:2
If Republicans try to change things in education, they are engaging in a “culture war.” And if they try to stop the Democrats changing things in education, they are engaging in a “culture war.”
